Leicester Wigston Neighbourhood
The City of Leicester is located in the East Midlands, the heart of the United Kingdom. It is perfect for a city break and as a stop-off point for any discerning traveller. Leicester Wigston is easily accessible by car (via the M1), by plane (via East Midlands Airport and Leicester Airport) or by train from most major cities. Our most popular attractions include the remains of King Richard III, Leicester Cathedral, and family fun at the National Space Centre. You can also experience the Great Central Railway for something a little different.
One of the earliest records of Wigston is in the Domesday Book: Wigston (then known as Wichingstone) is listed amongst the lands held by Hugh De Granmesnil for the King. In the middle ages it was known as Wigston Two Spires as, unusually, there were two mediaeval churches: All Saints’ and St Wistan’s. Wigston was also the birthplace of George Davenport, a notorious highwayman robber!
Leicester is now a ‘go to destination’ for many reasons, from studying and business purposes through to recreational and cultural activities. Leicester is famous for its diversity and, as a result, there are dozens of festivals that run throughout
